Dr. Pecina accepted as ACNP member during the 2023 ACNP annual meeting

Many University of Pittsburgh Department of Psychiatry faculty and trainees attended the 2023 American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP) annual meeting to learn about and present new research, and connect with colleagues.


Kevin Handoko receives Outstanding Poster Presentation Award during Pitt Research Day

The 21st annual Department of Psychiatry Research Day, held on June 8, 2023 was a great success, attended by more than 500 faculty members, trainees, and staff, and featuring 160 posters at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. The plenary program concluded with Outstanding Poster Presentation Awards for recipients including TNN Lab member Kevin Handoko.

Dr. Pecina presents at the 2022 ACNP President's Plenary Symposium

Dr. Pecina was selected as a President’s Plenary presenter, and discussed the latest work on endogenous opioid release in response to expectancies of pain and mood.

On May 27th & 28th, 2021, Dr. Peciña presented her work on antidepressant placebo effects at the SIPS: "Molecular Mechanisms of Placebo Response: From Genes to Pathways."


Jiazhou joins the UCL-NIMH Joint Doctoral Training Program in Neuroscience

Jiazhou starts his studies at the UCL-NIMH Joint Doctoral Training Program in Neuroscience to work under the mentorship of Argyris Stringaris and Quentin Huys. Best of luck Jiazhou!


AWARD: NIMH BRAINS R01

Dr. Peciña has been awarded with an R01 grant as part of the NIMH BRAINS program. The five-year study will examine the neurocomputational mechanisms of antidepressant placebo effects.

On January 24th, 2020, Dr. Peciña presented at the Plenary Session “What We Have Learned About Placebo: Implications for clinical Practice and the interpretation of Evidence About Analgesics” at the NANS 23rd Annual Meeting.
